The WWU Alumni game was played on the beautiful deWilde Rugby Fields, home of the Chuckanut Bay RFC. The weather cleared and a 1:00pm KO took place in ideal rugby conditions.
Some great rugby was played and at the end of the day the current Vikings came away with a 71-44 victory over a game alumni team. Coming off a championship season the current Vikings had too much speed and match fitness for the game alums. Some of the best players from the last ten years of WWU teams put on a show that produced some some very entertaining rugby and many brilliant trys. Man of the Match had to go to Nate Regan who crossed the tryline for three times and showed that he still has it!
It was the last game of their college careers for seniors Nathan Mathis, Kyle Peter, Max Stone, Ethan Grassley and Hayden Hester. You will be missed.
Thanks go to the officials who donated their time to allow the players to enjoy a game of rugby that was played with a very appropriate competitive attitude. Thank you to alumni Caleb Galbraith for referring and for Matt Nagel assisting as the AR.
The post match was hosted by Chuckanut Bay Rugby and it was of the highest order. At the end of the day the game was the winner and the old saying "the older we get, the better we were" ran true!
